On Thursday, President Donald Trump appeared to fall asleep during a ceremony at the U.S. Institute of Peace building commemorating the signing of a peace agreement between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Trump was seated at a table to the left of the podium while Rwandan President Paul Kagame spoke. During Kagame’s remarks, Trump was visibly closing his eyes with his hands clasped and his head drooping. He continued to doze after Kagame finished speaking and as DRC President Félix Tshisekedi approached and began remarks.
The leaders’ remarks lasted less than 15 minutes. The event occurred days after Trump fell asleep during a televised Cabinet meeting that lasted about two hours.
The setting was a building that Trump is described as having taken over with questionable legality and rebranded with his name.
