Joe Rogan has drawn criticism from members of his audience after praising Elon Musk and describing him as a “brilliant mind,” while defending Musk’s work with DOGE during the early period of Donald Trump’s administration.
The Joe Rogan Experience, which built a large audience around comedy, fitness, and conspiracy-focused commentary, was described as having played a major role in Trump’s re-election. Trump’s three-hour appearance on the show drew nearly 40 million YouTube views the weekend before the election, and Rogan later endorsed Trump’s campaign.
Backlash has been especially visible on Reddit within a subreddit of roughly 1.5 million members dedicated to Rogan, where users posted memes and complaints. Commenters accused Rogan of acting as “state-run propagandist media,” criticized a perceived lack of objectivity, and expressed frustration with repeated political talking points.
Musk’s DOGE initiative is described as seeking major cuts to government spending and privatization of key public services, prompting criticism from progressives and some libertarians.
